THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED Synopsis/RFO FOR X-38 RECOVERY SYSTEM -- CONDUCT TWO AIR DROP PLATFORM TESTS/DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF A DROGUE PARACHUTE SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS NOTICE. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their offer. This notice serves as the official amendment to the subject solicitation and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to provide answers to the questions stated below and to amend the Phase I requirements. 1. QUESTION: Is NASA in possession of the packing and rigging procedures for the X-38 parachute system? ANSWER: Yes, NASA is in possession of the procedures. 2. QUESTION: Will NASA supply a copy of this procedure? ANSWER: Yes, these procedures will be available. 3. QUESTION: Are any other documents that NASA will be supplying against the subject solicitation? ANSWER: No other documentation will be provided. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to August 3,1998. The NASA/JSC X-38 technical team has revised its airdrop test requirements. As a result, Phase I is now an optional requirement. Based upon the success of the current airdrop test program, a determination to exercise Phase I will be made by NASA/JSC, not later than September 30, 1998. In the event that Phase I is exercised, the airdrop tests will be conducted during the October/November 1998 timeframe. (Specific dates will be provided upon determination.) All other technical requirements for Phase I remain the same. There are no changes to the requirements for Phase II, drogue development. Offerors are requested to include technical and price information for both Phase I and Phase II in their proposals. All other terms and conditions remain the same. Offerors shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFO posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on July 02,1998 and published in the CBD on July 02,1998. Documents related to this solicitation will be available over the Internet. These documents are in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
