20 -- DOPPLER SONAR VELOCITY LOG (DSVL) SOL N00024-98-R-4149 POC Chris Hannah, Contract Specialist, (703) 602-0200 The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue an RFP that will provide for a basic and two option periods to procure the following items: Up to forty-one (41) AN/WQN-2 Doppler Sonar Velocity Log (DSVL) systems for surface ships and submarines, on-board repair parts (OBRP), installation and checkout (INCO) spares kits, up to twelve thousand (12,000) man-hours of technical/test program support, provisioned item order (PIO) and associated data. The above items will be procured from Sperry Marine, Inc., 1070 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 229091-2891. The AN/WQN-2 DSVL is a velocity sensor to be used onboard ships and submarines to provide continuous and accurate ownship's speed information to reduce errors to shipboard inertial navigation, gyrocompass, dead reckoning, and fire control systems. The systems will be delivered beginning in August 1999. As the designer and sole producer of the AN/WQN-2, Sperry Marine is the only company that possesses the design and data for a Navy qualified system. As such, Sperry Marine is the only company that can fabricate, assemble and deliver the required system qualified for the Navy within the time constraints to meet mission requirements.
