NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ)549-78786-0000/919 for a Six degree freedom multi axis control sytem consisting of: E-F00.02.01 drive file generator software, E-P60.90.03 time waveform replication software, X-P00.01.1 time data processing monitor software, an HP IA-64 "B" class unix workstation with: A4323A B180L base processor, A4516A 128MB ECC memory, A4569A 4GB ultra SCSI disk, A4553A 12X CD-ROM drive, A4542A EISA interface kit, A2670A thin lan transceiver, A4450A HP visualize-EG accelerator, E1489C MXI interface, X-HPSERID serial ID module, HP VXI hardware including: E1434A 2 channel arbitrary source module w/32MB RAM and OPT UGV local bus interface, E1434A 4 channel arbitrary source module w/32MB of RAM and OP. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from LMS North America. The items will be purchased from LMS North America due to compatibility with existent HP VXI hardware. This will insure that minimal change will occcur in maintenance procedures and that the vibration laboratory operators will not require additional maintenance training. LMS North America is the only vendor that can produce a multi-axis controller that is compatible with the existing VXI hardware. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested firms have 7 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 7 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
