intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the University of
South Alabama a requirement for Contractor services to provide and
maintain a squirrel monkey breeding colony and give CDC first right of
refusal to purchase the monkeys. The University of South Alabama is
the only known Contractor that currently has the number of squirrel
moneys required to breed and provide offspring to CDC for malaria
research and to maintain the breeding colony. The period of performance
will be for a base year with four twelve month option periods. See Note
