POC Mr. John Burns, Chief Ranger, ASIS, (410) 641-1443 Extension 223 Public notice is hereby given that the National Park Service proposes to negotiate a concession contract with Rainy Day, Inc., d.b.a. Assateague Isalnd Rentals, authorizing it to continue to operate the bicycle and canoe rental facilities and services for the public within Assateague Island National Seashore for a period of four (4) years beginning January 1, 1999. The foregoing concessioner has performed its obligations to the satisfaction of the Secretary under an existing permit which will expire December 31, 1998, and therefore pursuant to the provisions of Section 5 of the Act of October 9, 1965, is entitled to be given preference in the renewal of the permit and in the negotiation of a new permit as defined in 36 CFR 51.5. The Secretary will consider and evaluate all proposals received as a result of this notice. Any proposal, including that of the existing concesioner, must be postmarked or hand-delivered on or before October 9, 1998, to be considered and evaluated.
