CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATIONS OF MILITARY HOUSING, NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY & NAVAL AIR STATION, NEW ORLEANS, LA The Department of the Navy is seeking to identify responsible sources interested in the development and management of private sector housing to be made available for military personnel in the New Orleans, Louisiana area. The 1996 Defense Authorization Act, Public Law 104-106, Section 2878 allows the Department of Defense to work with the private sector through various authorities to promote the construction of new housing and renovation of existing military housing. Under this legislation, the Navy is interested in accomplishing the following: (1) regionally privatizing up to 420 existing single and multi-family 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units on government-owned land located at the Naval Support Activity and the Naval Air Station, New Orleans; (2) the development, construction, operation and maintenance of up to 100 new units on government-owned land with option(s) for up to an additional 300 units; and (3) the transfer of ownership of 11 acres of land and improvements including apartment style units located at Gilmore Park which is approximately 2 miles from the Naval Support Activity, New Orleans, LA.
