SOL WASC8-1604 POC Randall Brown (voice) (206) 526-6226/FAX (206) 526-6025 This publication serves as a notice of intent to procure, on a sole-source basis, with the Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife (ODF&W) for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of contract is have ODF&W improve the accuracy of coded wire tag accountability estimates for Willamette River Spring Chinook in sport fisheries, natural spawning escapement and pre-spawning mortality above the Willamette Falls. The ODF&W is the primary agency responsible for management of chinook salmon in the sate's waters, including the Willamette River. Management activities include catch monitoring, coded wire tag recovery, escapment estimating and the documentation mortalities due to any cuase. This project will involve all those activities for the Willamette River spring chinook stock in that portion of the river aove Willamette Falls. No other sources known which possess ODF&W's qualifications/experience since it's only known source which possess all pertinent data on distributions of chinook stocks among harvests, escapement and prespawning mortality in the Willamette River. Sources which may be able to conduct this study may request solicitation by fax within 15 days from the date of this notice.
