Waterway in Tacoma, Washington adjacent to the site of the old E. 11th
street bridge (now removed). Four new Aids to Navigation towers are to
be constructed. Three are to be constructed in approximately 35 feet of
water, with the fourth being on the corner of a pier. The three Aids in
the water will consist of 4 pile steel pipe structures, with 40' steel
sectional towers. The lights will be powered by 120 VAC. The steel
sectional tower on the pier is approximately 38' tall. The work will
require removal of 4 inches of ballast rock from the surface of the
Pier. Concrete footings will be poured 1' x1' and 18 inches deep so
they are flush with the pier deck. The steel tower will be bolted to
these footings. Estimated price range is $150,000. to $300,000.
Duration of contract period is approximately 60 days. Plans and
Specifications and/or Plan Holders List will be available approximately
20 August 1998 and must be ordered in writing. There is a NONREFUNDABLE
charge of $20.00 for each solicitation set. To obtain the solicitation,

Small and Disadvantageed Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to
assit minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to
acuire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for
transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible
prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program
enables firms to apply for bid, payment, and performance bonds up to
$1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on
the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available
under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates
to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is
