The work consists of drilling, blasting and removal of rock, extensive monitoring, setting of caged fish for survivability evaluation, and air curtain testing for blast effect mitigation. The Wilmington Offshore Fishery Enhancement Structure (WOFES), located approximately 5 miles southwest of the mouth of the Cape Fear River, and the Eagle Island North Cell disposal area are available for disposal of material. The total quantity of material to be removed from the project area (105' X 237') down to the required depth of elevation -45.0 feet mean lower low water is estimated to be approximately 7,000 cubic yards. All work must be completed within 150 calendar days after contractor receipt of NOTICE TO PROCEED. Estimated cost range of the project is $1,000,000 -- $5,000,000.
