The Social Security Administration is interested in receiving quotes for the supplies and services of a qualified contractor to (1) furnish all equipment, materials and supervision to install FM-200 gaseous extinguishing systems in the Storage Tek Tape Silos at the National Computer Center (NCC). Each tape silo shall be provided with an individual FM-200 extinguishing system. The detection and releasing system shall consist of 2 Notifier model LPX-751 "VIEW" Laser smoke detectors for each silo connected to a Notifier AFP 400 control panel. The existing Notifier AFP 400 control panel and ten Notifier model LPX-751 "VIEW" laser smoke detectors installed in five Storage Tek tape silo units shall be utilized for this project. The contractor shall provide and install 12 additional Notifier model LPX-751 "VIEW" Laser smoke detectors for the remaining 6 Storage Tek tape silo units. The contractor shall also install a Government furnished Fenwal 3210 releasing panel. The contractor shall provide and install all necessary equipment for the connection of the AFP 400 to the existing building Notifier AM2020 and VGAS system. (2) The contractor shall provide and install an air sampling system for 11 Storage Tek tape silo units. The contractor shall provide and install all associated appurtenances to connect the air sampling system to the existing Notifier AM2020 fire alarm system. (3) The contractor shall provide a testing and maintenance service contract for the FM-200 and air sampling systems. A site visit is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. at the Social Security Building, National Computer Center, 6201 Security Boulevard, Baltimore, Maryland. This is a small Business Set-Aside requirement. The standard industrial classification code is 1711, the small business size is $7 million. The Government intends to award a firm fixed price contract, which may include options for additional systems expansion. This acquisition will be subject to Part 12 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) regarding the acquisition of commercial items to FAR Part 13 regarding the Application of Special Simplified Procedures for certain Commercial Items, and to the principles of past performance evaluation as covered by FAR 15.304. The Government will evaluate quotes for the "best value" based on technical compliance, experience, past performance, and price. The acquisition will also be subject to the conditions of the Service Contract Act. Request for Quotation number SSA-RFQ-98-3607 will be available on or about August 12, 1998.
