Lewis, eric.w.lewis1@jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request
for Offer (RFO)for absolute pressure sensor modules which shall be used
in the development of a flush mounted air data system. This air data
system shall compute real time air data infomation from the measured
pressure data for use in the flight control of the X-38 experimental
crew return vehicle (Vehicle 201). Ten sensor modules will be used in
a single-fault tolerant (dual string) configuration on V201. Each
string of modules will sense pressures from nine pressure port which
will be oriented in a crucifix configuration around the V201 Nose. The
X-38 program focuses on developing an experemental crew return vehicle
X-38, that will potentially lead to an astronaut-occupied version crew
return vehicle (CRV) for the International Space Station (ISS). V201
will be designed to demonstrate key capabilities that the
astronaut-occupied CRV will have. It shall accomodate up to seven crew
members, support a shirt sleeve environment, provide autonomous flight
control to a selected landing site, and support a launch from either
the Space Shuttle or an expendable launch vehicle. The Government
intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. The SIC Code
and Size Standard are 3769 and 1000, respectively. The DPAS Rating for
this procurement is DO-C9. All qualified responsible sources may
submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The
anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about September 30, 1998
with an anticipated offer due date of on or about October 30, 1998. An
ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The
