36 -- PLASTIC MEDIA BLASTING EQUIPMENT, U.S. COAST GUARD ISC MIAMI, FLORIDA SOL DTCG82-98-Q-3WC155 DUE 091598 POC Pat Dixon (305) 278-6725 SYNOPSIS: This project includes the furnishing and installation of Portable Plastic Media Blasting System in existing Vacu-Blast blasting room. Portable blasting system shall permit blasting with plastic media in lieu of silica sand material. System shall have capability of performing plastic media blasting and reclamation in existing blasting room, as well as functioning completely independent of existing Vacu-Blast sand blasting system. Portable plastic media system shall consist of media recovery unit, tuneable reclaimer, media separator, blasting (pressure) vessel, dust collector and pressure blower. Provide electrical and pneumatic connections as required for equipment to function properly. Documentation and training in operating and maintaining the equipment shall be provided and supplemented with operational and maintenance manuals to become the property of the U. S. Coast Guard . Location of this project is U. S. Coast Guard, ISC Miami,Florida. This solicitation is being issued as a Small Business Set-aside. This solicitation/purchase order will incorporate all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAC 97-04. The SIC Code is 3679 and the size standard is 500. All responsible small business concerns capable of supplying subject equipment are encouraged to request and review the solicitation package. No telephone requests. For Minority, Women-owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The COT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
