R -- TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR PUBLIC POLICY INITIATIVE DUE 092098 POC Sharyn Abbott, 202-632-1500 The National Institute for Literacy(NIFL) is seeking interested bidders for a simplified acquisition competition(for this simplified acquisition, individuals are considered a small business concern) to carry out the next stages of the NIFL's policy support and information initiative. For the period of October 1, 1998- July 31, 1999, the NIFL seeks to work with a contractor for the purpose of : (1) establishing and maintaining a system for tracking literacy-related policy in all 50 states and the District of Columbia; (2) preparing a new publication series on literacy-related public policy issues at the state level -- modeled on the "Policy Update" series -- that would be distributed nationally; (3) upgrading the public policy information available on the Literacy Information and Communication System (LINCS); and (4) assisting with organizing a National Literacy Summit.
