Robin Richards, (703) 784-5822/x232 The Marine Corps Systems Command
intends to negotiate a change order to contract M67854-98-C-2075 with
United Defense LP (UDLP), Ground Systems Division of Santa Clara, CA.
The contractor will be responsible for the procurement of specified
parts for the production of Reliability, Availability and
Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard (RAM/RS) Assault Amphibious
Vehicles (AAVs). The procurement includes parts for the modified
Bradley Suspension System (BSS) being incorporated into the RAM/RS AAV.
The procurement also includes parts for rebuilding current HS-400
transmissions to HS-525 configuration; parts for integrating the
rebuilt transmissions with new 525 hp engine into a powerplant assembly
(PPA); and parts for integrating the PPA into the RAM/RS vehicles.
Other miscellaneous parts include National Stock Number (NSN) supply
system items and non-system parts such as fabricated/make-from items,
as well as, parts/items relative to implementation of Engineering
Change Proposals during the RAM/RS manufacturing process. All the parts
will be delivered to the USMC Maintenance Center in Albany, GA and
Barstow, CA to satisfy the RAM/RS production schedule requirements.
UDLP is the prime contractor for the hull modification portion of the
RAM/RS program under the above mentioned contract. This contractor has
all previous experience as OEM for the AAV7A1 AAV Family of Vehicles
(FOV), in addition to being the lead on current production efforts for
Foreign Military Sales cases, thereby positioning them with
significant advantages to support the USMC's aggressive AAV7A1 RAM/RS
schedule in a cost effective manner. No solicitation document is
available for competitive bidding; however, interested parties may
contact United Defense for possible subcontracting opportunities or
they may submit a statement of capability for satisfying this
requirement to this office. Any statement of capability submitted to
this office, must be received within 15 days of the date of this
announcement to the contact person listed above; andshall, at a
minimum, include descriptive literature, pricing, and a parts
availability schedule. This announcement is not a request for
competitive proposals, and a determination by the Government not to
compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, in
addition to, a previous notice to industry on long-range planning of
the RAM/RS Program with one industry source, is solely within the
