Bentley, Contracting Officer, SMDC-CM-CN, (256)955-1187 The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command intends to negotiate a contract on the basis of other than full and open competition with Boeing North American, 3370 Miraloma Avenue, Anaheim, CA, for design and development of a PATRIOT Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) Advanced Master Frequency Generator (MFG) with emphasis on cost reduction while maintaining current performance. This is an evolutionary follow-on to previous development in which the government has incurred costs which cannot be recovered by competitive means. It requires modification to and advancement of the design of the current MFG. The action is time sensitive because full benefit requires completion in time for insertion into the initial run of the PAC-3 missile's full rate production. As the current PAC-3 seeker vendor, Boeing possesses the unique experience and capabilities combined with the facilities required to perform the effort and satisfy the Government's requirement within the required timeframe.
