This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is F04700-98-Q-1847. This is a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through FAC 97-03. The Air Force Flight Test Center has a requirement for LOS GPS Mark II Microsonde Radiosondes, Model Number 1548-611. These radiosondes must be compatible with VIZ GPS W9000 Meteorological Processing System Code correlating, 10 channel, all in view GPS receiver on radiosonde. Frequency tuning range should be 400-406 MHz (403 nominal); frequency stability should be 400 KHz; nominal output power should be 240 mW; modulation should be FM; data transmission should be digital, 4800 Baud; data channels: pressure (optional), temperature, humidity, 4 spare channels; sampling rate: all parameters once per second, each set transmitted twice for reliability; power source: water activated battery; sensor calibration: coefficients stored in radiosonde on EEPROM, transmitted in data stream; pressure sensor: none; temperature sensor: thin rod thermistor, range +60oC to -90oC, +/-0.2C RMS accuracy, 0.1C resolution; humidity sensor: carbon type, 5-100% RH, +40oC to -50oC, 2% RH RMS accuracy, 1% RH resolution. The government intends to purchase this item from VIZ Manufacturing Company, Inc. unless other sources can provide the item at more favorable prices, terms, and conditions.
