HAMMARSKJOLD MEDAL The United Nations hereby invites expression of
interest in participating in bidding for manufacturing of a
commemorative Dag Hammarskjold Medal. The Dag Hammarskjold Medal is a
tribute in recognition and remembrance for the sacrifice of those men
and women, military and civilian, who had lost their lives as a result
of service in peacekeeping operations for the United Nations; and
honors the past Secretary General, for whom the medal is named. The
medal is composed of three parts: a clear colorless lead glass crystal
ovoid approximately 2.5 X 2.0 X 1.5 inches, grit blasted (monaired)
with the name and dates of the recipient, the United Nations logo, and
the words the Dag Hammarskjold Medal, In the Service of Peace in
English and French; a base (which cradles the crystal medal)
approximately 4.0 X 4.0 X .75 inches made of polished dark gray granite
with a blue United Nations ribbon affixed; and a suitable presentation
package made of cardboard with the title of the medal and the United
Nations logo imprinted. Interested parties should reply to the
