D -- MODIFICATION TO PTO CONTRACT FOR PRIMEOCR SOL 193P9802888 DUE 090898 POC Joan Hanicak, Contracting Officer, 703-305-8069 The Patent and Trademark Office intends to modify its contract 50-PAPT-7-00055 with Prime Recognition of San Carlos, CA. This modification will provide for a specification change which necessitates deleting a component of the originally procured software "suite" and instead procuring additional licenses of PrimeOCR (quantity 15 to quantity 25) within the original amount obligated under the contract. The PTO also intends to upgrade all of the PrimeOCR licenses to the latest version, as well as upgrade the level of maintenance and extend through the year 2000. This is a sole source, combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, the test program outlined in FAR 13.6 as well as supplemental information provided herein. This non-competitive action will be processed in accordance with FAR 6.301-1 (Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements). Prime Recognition, San Carlos, CA is the developer and only known source who can provide the proprietary software, maintenance and upgrades to existing software licenses. This announcement constitutes the RFP and is the only solicitation that be issued. A sole source proposal is being requested pursuant to this announcement and shall reference the contract number cited above. This solicitation incorporates all of the applicable provisions and clauses in effect through FAC 97-5, as if stated in full text, as well as the terms and conditions of FAR 52.212-1.. A firm fixed priced modification to the contract will be awarded. The software and upgrades will be delivered within 30 days to the Patent and Trademark Office, FOB destination.
