COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 31,1998 PSA#217010TH ANNUAL US ARMY GROUND VEHICLE SURVIVABILITY SYMPOSIUM 10th Annual
U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Survivability Symposium, March 29 -- April 1,
1999. Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. A symposium on Ground
Vehicle Survivability will be held March 29 -- April 1, 1999, at the
Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA, under the auspices and
sponsorship of the Research Business Group, U.S. Army Tank-automotive
and Armaments Command Research, Development, and Engineering Center,
(TARDEC). The entire conference will be classified up to and including
SECRET US ONLY. The Army Ground Vehicle Survivability Symposium has
been held annually to provide a forum for the discussion, interchange,
and debate of accomplishments, discoveries and issues in all ground
vehicle survivability technology areas. The conference is significant
because of the recent progress made in critical survivability
technologies and in the military utilization of these technologies. The
conference will provide a setting for discussion of the implications of
this technology on the modern battlefield, their relationship to the
Army's Tactics and Doctrines, and the effects these new technologies
have on ground combat vehicle designs. The organization will be similar
to preceding conferences consisting of contributed, as well as invited,
overview papers. In order to provide a balanced exchange of technical
information, the minimum topic areas have been selected: Signature
Management Technology and Integration into Ground Vehicles; Active and
Energetic Armor (Heavy and Lightweight) Development and Integration
into Combat and Tactical Vehicles; Active and Passive Vehicle
Electro-Optic Countermeasure Technologies; Damage Reduction
Technologies Including: NBC/Detection/Protection Systems, Nuclear
Survivability to Crew and Overall Systems, & Spall Liners; Fire
Extinguishing Systems; Survivability Testing and Test Methodologies;
Signature/Countermeasure/Armor Modeling of Current and Future Vehicle
Systems; Survivability Optimization Modeling; and Survivability Systems
Analyses. Abstracts on all aspects of combat and tactical wheeled
