Officer The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS) intends to
negotiate solely with Microbiology International, Frederick, MD, to
purchase an S8000 Protocol Image Analyzer. The S8000 Protocol Image
Analyzer provides microbial enumeration, full windows 95TM based
software capability, counts pour and spiral plates in less than one
second, automatically sets detection parameters for different plate
types, separates touching colonies, separated colonies are marked after
counting, user defined colony size discrimination, automatic correction
for uneven agar surface, area exclusion- user can remove whole areas of
the plate image from the calculation of the count, user defined
dilution series can be generated, GLP conformance with multilevel
password security, all plate and count information on one screen,
measures, pour, spread and spiral plates, measures inhibition zones,
one key stroke transfers to Excel spreadsheet, Treasury TM database and
raw image storage, printing and transfer. The GeneGenius darkroom has
a motorized zoom lens with the camera/lens assembly contained in a
separate chamber, control of the camera, lens and darkroom is achieved
either by using the touch panel controls or through the computer,
therefore there is no risk of contaminating the camera/lens., image is
captured directly into the computer and can be transferred to the
analysis software immediately, this also uses a private file format for
complete GLP compliance, a completely light-tight viewing chamber, with
safety switch controlled UV epi-illumination, a curved, hinged front
door allowing very easy access to the sample for positioning, touch
panel controls for the motorized zoom lens for easy framing and
focusing of the image, and transfers camera images directly to the PC.
The contractor is required to install and test the equipment. The
contractor shall also provide on-site installation and training.
Companies with the demonstrated capability of providing this equipment
must submit a descriptive statement, including descriptive literature,
specifically addressing the equipment's component's and availability,
and the companies capability to maintain./support it. The statement and
literature must be submitted to the Contracting Officer Address within
15 days of publication of this notice. This is not a request for
