S -- RESIDENTIAL CARE AND SECURED DETENTION OF ALIENS AT HOUSTON, TEXAS SOL ACD-99-P-0001 DUE 091598 POC Contact Maurice Shook, Contract Specialist, 214/905-5392, FAX 214/767-7458 The Immigration and Naturalization Service intends to negotiate and award a sole source contract to Corrections Corporation of America, 10 Burton Hills Blvd., Nashville, TN 37215, for the temporary residential care and secure detention of undocumented aliens at Houston, Texas. The period of the contract will be from October 1, 1998 for a base period of 12 months with two additional 3 month option periods. The contractor is to provide all necessary management, labor, supervision, equipment and a facility to detain and house up to 500 adult detainees. The authority for this proposed contract action is FAR 6.302-1. This will be an interim contract pending the award of one or more competitive long term contracts for a period of up to 5 years. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority cited above. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However all proposals received within 20 days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
