Size 8-1/2 x 11", bound on the 11" dimension. Each publication has a variable imaged address on Page 1 parallel to the 11" dimension consisting of 14 total lines (4 lines are a 22-digit Interleaved 2-of-5 bar code), maximum 40 characters per line. Publication B -- Approximately 50,000,000 copies of a 32-page self-covered publication printing in 2-colors, saddle-wire stitched in two places. Size 9-1/2 x 11", bound on the 11" dimension. 1) Can you variable image or by using any other numbering process on one side of the outside signature in black ink as follows (each publication must have a different DI number): 1a) Publication A -- Page 1 -- A Document Integrity (DI) number which must be either a 10-digit Interleaved 2-of-5 bar code with human readable interpretation or a 10-digit OCR number, in the bottom margin parallel to the 8-1/2" dimension. Page 40 plus any other two pages printed on the same side of the signature -- Either a 10-digit Interleaved 2-of-5 bar code with human readable interpretation or a 10-digit OCR number, in the bottom margin parallel to the 8-1/2" dimension. 1b) Publication B -- Page 1, Page 32, plus any other two pages printed on the same side of the outside signature -- Either a 10-digit Interleaved 2-of-5 bar code with human readable interpretation or a 10-digit OCR number, in the bottom margin parallel to the 9-1/2" dimension. 2) For each Publication A and B -- If you can produce the variable imaging or by using any other numbering process, how will you accomplish it (on press, at binding stage, etc.) and what method would you use (ink jet, laser, etc.)? 3a) Publication A -- What percentage increase in cost would occur in adding the DI requirement to publications with the variable imaged address only? 3b) PublicationB -- What would the percentage increase in the cost be to add the DI requirement to the publications? 4) What impact would adding the DI have on the production schedule?
