provided: The list of course material is too diverse and lengthy to
provide. The following overview of the major programs includes: (1)
Wellness Clinic = an 8-week multidisciplinary program designed to
provide beneficiaries with education and tools necessary to manage
their weight or lipid levels through lifestyle changes and sound
nutritional habits. Course material includes a course guide with a
variety of nutritional information from many sources. (2) Diabetes
Management Clinic = a 6-week program designed to educate patients on
how to understand and manage their disease by understanding the
nutritional, exercise and pharmacological concepts of treatment. This
program includes a variety of handout and course materials from a
variety of professional organizations, including the American Diabetes
Association. This program is in the process of being certified and
must be taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator. (3) Eat Well for Life
= a 6-session program designed to target patients with hyperlipidemia.
This is a standardized program that comes with a patient workbook,
cookbook and other materials. Patrick AFB is a pilot site for this test
program. The overall objectives of our many nutrition programs are: (1)
Manage the nutritional aspects of Patrick AFB weight management program
and educate base personnel about the importance of sound nutrition. (2)
Encourage and help beneficiaries establish and maintain dietary habits
that contribute to good health, disease prevention, and weight
control. (3) Assist in modification of the base environment so that it
