16 -- LIGHTWEIGHT ENVIRONMENTALLY-SEALED PARACHUTE SYSTEMS AND SUPPORT POC William T. Monckton, Contract Specialist, (760) 939-8234 Contract N68936-98-D-0077 is an IDIQ contract with SEI, Asheville, NC for continued development effort and limited production related to lightweight environmentally sealed "Thin-Pack" parachute assemblies, accessories and support. Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWPNS), China Lake, CA intends to conduct negotiations on an other-than-competitive basis with SEI to modify Contract N68936-98-D-0077 to increase the maximum orderable number of systems in from 2,200 to 3,200 staying within the current ceiling price of the contract. This increase is for 1998 and 1999 orders with complete delivery of systems by June 2000. Ordered systems must be of identical configuration of those systems presently on order. Products and services are ordered and funded by individual delivery or task orders. The company is the only source with proprietary rights to the environmental sealing techology used by the systems. The "Thin-Pack" lightweight systems have a 5 1/2 year repack cycle (versus 224-670 days) with agoal of 27 1/2 years total life (versus 10 years).
