36 -- ELECTRIC POWERED TRASHRACK CLEANER AND COMPATIBLE TRASHRACK SOL DACW57-98-Q-0195 DUE 093098 POC Sandra Hillebrandt CONTRACT SPECIALIST, CT-P (503) 808-4615 (Site Code DACW57) The Portland District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to award a contract to furnish and install one trash rack(8ft. x 10 ft.) and one compatible electric powered trash rack cleaner for the John Day Dam Fishwater Turbine Intake System on the upstream face of the dam on the Columbia River, near Rufus, Oregon. This rack is used to keep the AWS penstock free of river debris during normal operation. The debris consists of tumbleweed, leaves and aquatic plants and sticks less than 6 inches in diameter. Volume varies with river flow, depending on flood conditions. The new trashrack will operate at an averate depth of 80' with a load capacity of 3000 pounds. The cleaner must be capable of efficiently cleaning the entire rack. The rack must be constructed to specifications supplied in solicitation. This solicitaiton will be issued on or about September 16, 1998. Quotes will be due on September 30, 1998 at 4:00 p.m. Award will be made on a best value basis.
