contact, TROBINS3@email.usps.gov. The U.S. Postal Service is seeking
sources with existing equipment to provide a detection of overlapping
and side-by-side packages that are conveyed on the belt or tilt tray
carrier of a sorting system. The equipment should be modular regarding
image lift and analysis. Over and under the belt scanning stations (if
necessary) for image lift is to be considered. In one of the
applications the image lift system is required to capture images of
parcels at constant conveyor speeds ranging from 350 feet per minute to
500 feet per minute. In a different application the image lift is to be
done over the tilt tray, size 24 x 36 inches, speed three trays per
second. The system will work in the plan view of approximately 40
inches square and less. The working distance (height) as needed to
cover the plan view area with maximum package height is 36 inches. The
image lift shall be done from a fixed position. Technical response to
the requirement of the image lift system shall include a thorough
discussion of the technology, configuration, and the approach for
integrating into USPS conveying and/or sorting systems. Interested
parties should submit a technical response to the attention of Tammi
Robinson at USPS Automation Purchasing, 8403 Lee Highway, Merrifield,
VA 22082-8150 within 30 days of this notice. The USPS does not
guarantee that Vision Systems will be purchased as result of this
notice. Posted 08/31/98 (W-SN243912). (0243) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0337 19980902\99-0007.SOL)
