K -- MODIFICATION OF EQUIPMENT (ARMORED VEHICLE) SOL S-OPRAQ-98-N-0131 DUE 091898 POC John Stever, Fax # (703) 875-6085, or (703) 875-5272 The Department of State is seeking to identify companies who have interest and a proven capability to manufacture and install "Light Armor" (LA) in government owned vehicles. The Department is also seeking to identify companies who are interested and qualified to provide Contractor furnished "fully armored" (FA) vehicles to the Department of State on a purchase, lease or lease to purchase terms. The Department of State specifications for the armor of FA and LA will be made available in a follow-on solicitation, if one is issued. Interested and qualified companies are required to submit their statement of qualification in order to be considered further under this announcement. The qualification statement should include, at minimum, the company's plant capacity; square footage of production facility; maximum number of production vehicles that have been armored annually; maximum number of vehicles that facility has capacity to armor annually; names and points of contact of 5 largest customers for past performance evaluation; current backlog of orders being processed; approximate delivery time after order has been placed; and size standard of company. Companies expressing interest without submitting a convincing statement of qualification may not be considered by the Department under this program.
