B-PROGRAM AGAINST DIGITAL COUNTERFEITING OF U.S. CURRENCY Program Against Digital Counterfeiting of U.S. Currency Commerce Business Daily/Federal Register Solicitation for Participation August 31, 1998 Technology Forum: October 5 6, 1998 Solicitation for Industry Participants Because of the increasing availability and sophistication of inexpensive, easy-to-use digital image and color output technologies, there has been a recent increase in the use of these technologies to make counterfeit U.S. currency. Accordingly, the U.S. Government is seeking information on methods to combat this threat. The deterrent methods should include either or both of: a) banknote recognition leading to the illegal output being obscured and rendered unusable and b) output labeling for forensic tracing and identification of originating equipment. An open forum to begin the interchange will be held October 5th and 6th, 1998 at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.
