The work to be performed consists of (1) excavating of approximately 0.5 mile of inlet channel, (2) constructing a 13.25 acre waterfowl nesting island,(3) excavating and backfilling for a clay cutoff wall, 6 feet deep, 2 feet wide, and 710 feet long, (4) excavating and backfilling for a pervious backfill trench, 5 feet deep, 2 feet wide at the bottom and 7 feet wide at the top and 652 feet long, (5) furnishing and installing approximately 660 feet of 4-inch PVC perforated drain pipe, (6) dampproffing approximately 510 square yards of the face of the spillway wall, (7) furnishing and installing approximately 925 square yards of filter fabric, (8) furnishing and placing approximately 215 cubic yards of gravel surfacing on the township road on the spillway and subbase under the riprap, (9) salvaging and replacing approximately 255 cubic yards of riprap, and (10) cleaning the spillway apron of earth, debris and rock. It will take approximately 8 months for construction, with 2 periods of work, due to the expected run-off and flooding this spring. The first work period will be January 1st to March 15, 1999, the second will run from June 1st to September 1, 1999. The work is located on the Forest River, 3 miles northeast of Ardoch, North Dakota, in Walsh County. The bid opening date is tentatively scheduled for October 30, 1998, at the Bureau of Reclamation, Dakotas Area Office, 304 East Broadway Avenue, Bismarck, North Dakota. The contract is to be completed by September 1, 1999. There is no charge for the first copy of the solicitation, additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 each set.
