consortium of Navy libraries to provide access via the World Wide Web
to databases containing bibliographic information related to physics,
electrical engineering, electronics, computers and control and
information technology. This consortium requires articles from
scientific and technical journals and conferences, and includes books,
reports and dissertations. The consortium will purchase OCLC
Collection which includes six databases: WorldCat is the largest online
catalog of 37 million books, videos, sound recordings, maps, scores,
manuscripts, and archives; also contains holdings records for many
Naval libraries. ArticleFirst is a journal citation from over 13,000
serials and 5.5 million articles. ContentsFirst is a complete table of
content pages from more than 13,000 journals. FastDoc is a database of
more than 900,000 articles. NetFirst is an index of Internet resources.
Union List of Periodicals is more than 7 million records of periodical
holdings linked to records indexed in WorldCat. The second online
subscription, Books in Print provides a complete, publisher-verified
information on all US books in print. Books in Print also includes
900,000 new or revised records each year and covers scholarly,
technical, popular, adult, juvenile and reprint titles. In addition,
complete profiles of publishers and distributors are included, and is
a primary resource used by publishers, book dealers and libraries. The
third online subscription, INSPEC is the largest English-language file
of bibliographic information and abstracts on the world's output of
published works in physics, electrical engineering and electronics,
computing and information technology. SPAWAR plans to award a sole
source contract to Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), 6565 Frantz
Road, Dublin, OH 43017-3395. OCLC offers a uniquely bundled package of
unlimited access to two heavily used, non-OCLC databases, BIP and
INSPEC, in addition to their own OCLC Collection. See Numbered Note: 22
