COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 3,1998 PSA#2173CREATIVE "BOOK OF IDEAS" BASED ON HUD'S COMMUNITY 2020 SEMINARS THIS IS
NOT A PROCUREMENT ACTION. The Department of Housing and Urban
Development (the Department) is interested in partnering with an entity
in the private sector to develop an accessible, creative "book of
ideas" based on the Community 2020 Seminars. One year ago, the
Department launched a series of public diaglogues addressing critical
issues that face America over the next 25 years and beyond, including
the changing economy, rase and diversity issues, homelessness, and
more. These are known as the Community 2020 Seminars. Participants in
these seminars have included national opinion leaders on contemporary
urban issues. This cooperative effort will compile the contributions to
the 2020 Seminars and supplement them with articles, photographs, and
art material, which will be developed into a book. This book will be
suitable for distribution to general audiences. This hard cover book
will be visually attractive, while covering cutting edge issues in
plain English. The Department is interested in obtaining proposals from
entities who may wish to pursue this partnership. The Department will
make available to interested parties a document ("Guidelines") that
more fully describes the Government's ideas for this book and the
conditions under which it would wish to engage in the effort. These
Guidelines will be available on or about 15 working days after
publication of this announcement in the CBD. Interested parties may
obtain a copy of the Guidelines by calling Paul Gatons in the Office of
Policy Development and Research at (202) 708-4230, ext. 5701. E-MAIL:
