ELMENDORF AFB, ALASKA HAS A REQUIREMENT TO PURCHASE AND INSTALL a stationary, organic material separation and sizing unit, utilizing starscreens. The unit shall have dial-in ability to rapidly change particle size while processing materials and must be capable of screening different materials at different sizes without having to change screens. It shall specifically have the capability of screening high moisture sticky materials such as compost, on pass, to 14to 3/8"minus, and to produce a minimum output of 50cy/hr. The overall unit size shall be approx. 53' x 4', with a loading height of approximately 10'. The feed system consists of a hopper and distributor to distribute the material evenly. The hopper capacity shall be a minimum of 5cy, with a top opening of approximately 66", and shall have a 3 HP or greater electric motor. The hopper feed belt shall be 2-ply and approximately 42"wide. The distributor shall have hardened steel paddles, a 5hp electric motor, and shall be approximately a 40"w x 30" diameter. The screening surface shall be approximately 40"W x 10' L, with a minimum speed of 0-400 rpm, variable. It shall have an automatic speed cleaning system which does not use brushes or scrapers, dust/safety covers, and hubs with side sealers. The media disk size shall be a maximum diameter of approx 7" x 3/4" thick. The conveyer for the collection of fines shall be approximately 7'L x 42"W. It shall have a plain 2-ply belt, self-cleaning rollers, minimum of 2hp electric motor, and a belt cleaner. The fines stacker shall be approximately 36" wide with a stockpile height of at least 15'. The control panel shall have a NEMA 4 or better enclosure. It shall have AC variable electric drives to control the hopper and the screendeck. The unit shall have motor starters for the distributor, fines collection conveyor and fines conveyor, and a digital read-out display for motor RPMs. All functions must be controllable from outside the cabinet. All mechanical moving parts shall be shielded; emergency stops shall belocated in the proximity of the operating area; there shall be labels identifying all danger areas, operating levers, and grease points; and the catwalk shall be accessible with a stationary ladder.
