NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for 2 each MIR Calibration Target Assemblies,89 -- 560 GHz, Return Loss : 40 Db minimum from 89 GHz to 560 GHz; Calibration Target Element; Pyramidal Array 4:1 ratio, Aluminum Core-Chromate conversion coated; Epoxy based absorber vacuum molded coating; Thermo-foil heating element; cylindrical aluminum shroud; back plate, and PRT's installed and wired. The target must fit into existing MIR instrument. These new loads must have an aluminum core with thin (~ 1mm) microwave absorbing coating and be designed with a tine aspect ratio of 4:1 with the same height as the current tines. The loads are to replace existing loads in a way that no modifications to the instrument will be necessary. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from ZAX Millimeter Wave Corporation, 555 W. Allen Avenue, San Dimas, CA 91773. ZAX Millimeter Wave Corp. is the only manufacturer of millimeter-wave calibration references with then absorbing coating on an aluminum substrate core with 40 dB return loss up to 560 GHz. ZAX Millimeter Wave Corp. possesses the tooling necessary to reproduce the MIR calibration targets with this different tine aspect ratio.
