The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA intends to purchase preventative maintenance services for AP/3 Core System MFG, Perkin Elmer P/N: 130930386, located at the National Ocean Service in Charleston, South Carolina. The period of performance will be for one year, beginning October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999, plus two option years. These services are only known to be available from Perkin Elmer, Applied Biosystems Division, 850 Lincoln Center Drive, Foster City, CA 94404. This contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Concerns having the ability to provide this service are required to submit written notification to the procuring office listed in this notice within 10 days from the date of this synopsis. In order to be considered, firms must furnish detailed information concerning their capability to provide this service. Such information shall include at a minimum: name, telephone number and point of contact of firms or other Government agencies to whom this service or similar services have been provided previously. If no qualified responses are received, the Government intends to contract with Perkin Elmer, Applied Biosystems division.
