Soldier Systems Command has a requirement for the design and delivery
of replacing the current M2 fuel tank (NSN 7310-01-016-2242) with a
stainless steel tank that will not require nickel platting (corrosion
protection), brazing (reduces the corrosion protection), and painting
(harmful to the environment). The stainless steel tanks will be welded
and will not rust when stored or used in the field thereby increasing
their useful life. The contractor shall supply 10 M2A burners (drawing
No. 5-11-1227) with stainless steel tanks in 22, 24, and 26 gauge for
a total of 30 burners. The tanks shall contain all the necessary plugs,
brackets (drawing No. 5-11-1228) and filler tubes (drawing No.
5-11-1242). The tanks shall be fitted and secured onto M2A burners. The
burners shall be capable of normal operation. The contractor shall be
required to have engineering experience and tooling for the production
of M2A Gasoline Burners. The Standard Industrial Code for this
procurement is 8999. The Size Standard is 5.0M. Requests for the RFQ
shall be received no later than 15 September 1998. Requests shall be
