E-MAIL: Charles S. Hamlin, chuck.hamlin@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) to REPLACE HIGH PRESSURE GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. THIS PROJECT REPAIRS HIGH-PRESSURE COMPONENTS OF THE EXISTING MARSHALL SPACE FLIGHT CENTER (MSFC) HIGH-PRESSURE GASEOUS NITROGEN (GN2) AND HIGH-PRESSURE, HIGH-PURITY AUR SYSTEMS. THE EFFORT WILL REPLACE APPROXIMATELY 4000 LINEAR FEET OF THE HIGH-PURITY AIR AND THE GN2 PIPING SYSTEMS VALVES AND OTHER COMPONENTS INCLUDING 34 NEW MANHOLES ACCESS DOORS. IN ADDITION THE WORK INCLUDES ALL EFFORTS TO DISCONNECT, RELOCATE AND RECONNECT EXISTING AIR AND GN2 STORAGE VESSELS ONTO NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FOUNDATIONS. ALL REQUEST FOR IFB MUST BE IN WRITING AND INCLUDE BUSINESS NAME, ADDRESS, AND PHONE/FAX NUMBER. REQUEST FOR IFB MUST INCLUDE A CHASIERS CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $25.00, MADE PAYABLE TO "NASA CASHIER". AWARD OF THIS CONTRACT IS CONTINGENT UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. The order of magnitude for the procurement is between $500,000 and $1,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 300 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small busines size standard for this procurement are 1711 and 7.0M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about SEPTEMBER 21,1998 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about OCTOBER 21,1998. The provisions and clauses in the solicitation are those in effect through FAC 97 -- 07. The firm date for receipt of bids will be stated in the IFB. Drawings will be available from the Bid Distribution Office. All responsible qualified sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency.
