NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for the Upgrade of low voltage in various buildings at the JSC Site, pending receipt of FY 99 funding. This procurement is open to both large and small businesses and ranges between $500,000 to $1,000,000. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is being conducted using the NASA Midrange procedures. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1731, Electrical Work, and 7.0 Mil/Average for 3 years, respectively. This projects consists of upgrade and improvement work located at several separated locations at the JSC Site. Projects are as follows: Building 4N -- Add electric motor operators to existing primary SF6 gas switching systems. Add new remote control panel to allow remote operation of the motor operated SF6 gas switching system. Provide new UPS system to power the electric motor operators. Provide new 20a/1P breaker in existing space 19 of the existing panel RP15. Building 8 -- Add new UPS system to power the existing electric motor operators. Provide new 20A/1P breaker in existing space 25 of existing panel RP3B. Building 31 -- Add new UPS system to power the existing electric motor operators. Provide new 20A/1P breaker in existing space 25 of existing panel RP3B. Building 47 -- Add electric primary SF6 gas switching systems with provisions for future addition of motor operators for each switch, to serve existing stored energy 15kV fused switches at transformers inside Building 47. Provide new slab and new PEAF panel enclosure for new switching equipment. Provide new receptacles and lighting inside the area. Provide power for tunnel 120 volt power. Building 260 -- Replace all existing 2000A low voltage bus duct with new 2000A non-ventilated enclosed bus duct or with new 2000A cable bus duct. Building 353 -Replace existing motor control centers MCC-1 and MCC-2 with new motor control centers that are replications of the existing motor control centers. Building 356 -- Replace existing motor control centers MCC-1 and MCC-2 with new motor control centers that are replications of the existing motor control centers. The construction Contractor will be required to commence work and complete the project within 300 days after written notice to proceed. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about October 15, 1998, with an anticipated offer closing date of about December 1, 1998.
