66 -- HELMET IMPACT SYSTEM MACHINE (MONORAIL DROP SYSTEM) SOL F41622-98-RA150 POC Bill Lucas, 210-536-6222 Brooks AFB, Operational Contracting intends to award a Sole Source Contract to CADEX Inc, 200 D St. Louis, St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada J3B1Y1. The requirement is for a Complete "Turn-Key" Helmet Dynamic Impact Testing System (Including Set-Up): Machine should have a monorail drop system, up-down carriage system, gear and chain for tower system, variable speed motor, height display and time gate duration holder. Impact machine accessories are to include: Aluminum Ball Arm, Steel Ball Arm, Flat, Hemi, Edge, Kerstone and Cylindrical Anvils, Steel Spherical Impactor, M.E.P. Pad, and quick change adapter kit for anvils. The machine should have complete Uni-Axial and Tri-Axial data aquisition capabilities to include all necessary accelerometers, signal amplifier, computer interface card, time gate duration system, cables, and computer. Headforms should include top and bottom ISO sizes A, E, J, M and O with clamping system. Tri-Axial system components should include: basket drop free fall system,break stopper, stainless steel cage, retractable air cylinder system, and headform neck adapter for sizes A, E, J, M, O. Machine should also have penetration test capabilities. Also required is a Dynamic chin strap testing capability that conforms to Snell requirements with appropriate data aquisition components. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this award is solely within the discretion of the Government. No award will be made on the basis of quotes received in response to this synopsis. If quotes are solicited no additional synopsis will be published.
