The Department of Energy, Oakland Operations Office intends to release a Request for Propsal(RFP)for services to support the Safeguards and Security Division. The services required to be performed are: (1)Personnel Securitiy activities; and (2)Security Administration. For performance of the Personnel Security activities, the offerors shall assist OAK staff in the performance of safeguards and security surveys, DOE Integrated Security Systems, personnel secutity processing, prescreening, visitor control, and classified document control, transcriber/word processing, and psychiatric evaluations. For performance of Security Administration functions, the offeror shall assist in carrying out instructions oriented toward the protection and safeguarding of DOE/OAK personnel and equipment. Security clearances at the "Q" or "L" level will be required for most of the staff performing services under the resulting contract. This procurement is 100% small business set-aside. The Standard Industrial Classification is8744; the Size Standard is $20,000,000. The anticipated solicitation release date is September 21, 1998. The solicitation will be issued electronically in accordance with FAR 4.501 and 5.102(a)(7), therefore hard copies of the soliciation will not be provided. If access to the internet is unavailable, a hard copy of the soliciation will be available at the Oakland Federal Building, DOE/OAK Reading Room, 1301 Clay Street, 1st floor North Tower, Oakland, CA.
