COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 10,1998 PSA#2177National Cancer Institute, Research Contracts Branch, PSAS, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638, Bethesda, MD 20892-7227 66 -- UPGRADE AN ATTOFLUOR IMAGING SYSTEM SOL RFQ80244(NR) DUE 092598
POC Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent, (301)402-4509 & Todd Cole,
Contracting Officer The National Institute of Neurological Disorders
and Stroke (NINDS) plans to upgrade an existing Attofluor Imaging
System, including a Confocal Attachment and a Cooled Charge-Coupled
Device Camera (CCD Camera) from Carl Zeiss, Inc..One Zeiss Drive,
Thornwood, NY 10594. The upgrade shall be assembled on an existing
Attofluor Ratiovision System and it will be used for optical imaging of
cellular and subcellular signals to allow NINDS to follow changes in
second messenger signals with greatly improved spatio-temporal
resolution virtually on-line. It will also allow NINDS to fully explore
and understand such important biomedical issues as physiological
regulation of developmental changes occurring in the embryonic CNS. The
system shall: 1) be capable of realtime direct confocal fluorescence
viewing and documentation at three wavelengths with motorized optical
sectioning and image acquisition software; 2) calibrated excitation
and/or emission ratioing with simultaneous background subtraction,
shading correction and exclusion with up to 99 Regions of Interest
(ROI) plus post-experimental analysis from stored images; 3) windows
software for experimental flexibility; 4) simultaneous or sequential
multi-dye capability; 5). integrated att data analysis software
(AttoGraph) which can also be run on any stand alone PC; 6) integrated
with Atto Graph is Atto View which allow flexible image viewing from
experimental data sets; 7) high quality 12 bit imaging with a cooled
CCD camera (Orca-100/PC) allowing low-level fluorescence light
acquisition; 8) c-apochromat 63x1.2 water corrected objective for
viewing optical sections in multilayer tissue slice preparation. Carl
Zeiss Inc, is the only source known to NINDS that offers an upgrade to
the existing Attofluor Ratiovision System. However, if any interested
party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a
statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other
information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in
sufficient detailto allow NINDS to determine if the party can meet the
mentioned requirements. Capability statements must be received in the
contracting office by 3:00 p. m. EST, on September 25,1998. If your
have any questions, please contact Marsha Gorham, Purchasing Agent, on
(301)402-4509. A determination by the Government not to compete this
proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within
the discretion of the Government. Information received will be
considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a
competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted. Posted
