synopsis/solicitation for a commercial product with installation,
prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as
supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This
notice constitutes the solicitation in its entirety. Price quotes are
requested based upon information in this notice. This solicitation
incorporates provisions and clauses identified in FAR Subpart 12, FAC
97-3, as required. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification is
3499. This acquisition will be procured using commercial item
procedures. The contractor is to furnish all materials, parts, labor,
and transportation to provide and install a storage mezzanine with fire
suppression system. Floor dimensions of the mezzanine will be
approximately 18'x 100', with a minimum height of 10 feet above the
building's floor. Support columns will be 6"x 6" square steel tubes 18'
in length, with a spacing of approximately 11' between columns. Framing
will be C-section, with 20 gauge steel decking using 3/4" tongue and
groove plywood as flooring. There will be two guardrails around the
perimeter, conforming to Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) guidelines, with a total linear footage of 236 feet. Kickplate
will be steel and also have a linear footage of 236 feet. Mezzanine
will include three 6-foot wide slide gates, one fixed ladder, and one
36 inch wide stairway, per OSHA standards. Design load will be 125 PSF.
All metal parts will be standard gray finish. The fire suppression
system will be installed on the mezzanine, and the contractor is
responsible for installation of all items for the proper operation of
the system. Contractor will tie into the building's existing fire
suppression system.The fire suppression system shall be designed and
certified by stamp of a registered fire protection engineer, and
submitted to the base civil engineering office prior to commencement of
work. Any interruptions in utilities to the building shall be requested
in writing at least ten days prior to the interruption. All utility
outages shall occur on the weekend unless otherwise negotiated. All
areas disturbed and/or damaged by the contractor during the course of
the work shall be patched, cleaned, repaired/replaced, and painted to
match the adjacent areas, including building steel, columns, walls,
floors, and ceilings. The contractor shall remove all debris from the
project site, and dispose of debris off base, in accordance with
applicable environmental regulations. Contractor will be allowed to
work from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except Federal
holidays. All work shall be in accordance with all OSHA and other
applicable regulations. Contractor shall perform all work in the area
with minimal impact to the individuals working in the area, and shall
perform daily clean-up of the work area. Contractor will notify the
following personnel five (5)working days before start of work and upon

(803)895-9637. Contractors requiring a site survey prior to submission
of a quote will contact MSgt Ross at the above listed number. Desired
date of project completion is 31 December 98. No paper copies of thie
solicitation will be issued. It is the responsibility of the
contractor to check the Internet site daily for any amendments that may
be issued against this solicitation. Internet registration is required
for this solicitation. Delivery is to Shaw AFB, SC. Quotes are
required by 4:30 pm EST, 25 Sep 98. Reference number for this
