The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for enhancements and modifications to existing requirements for the LPD 17 Ship Class. The Naval Sea Systems Command intends to release a request for proposal to Avondale Industries, Inc., the contractor responsible for the design and construction of the LPD 17 Ship Class, for this effort. These requirements include; investment for Total Ownership Cost reduction; enhancements to the Integrated Product Data Environment for security and search capabilities; expansion of the use of modeling and simulation tools; procurement of insurance spares; development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals; incorporation of additional Total Ship Training System capabilities extension of the Land Based Test Environment, and performance of studies and analysis related to environmental issues, port services, and engineering studies, including Night Vision Device compatibility, and other areas for improvement of the ship performance.
