search of sources to provide automatic letter tray sleeving machines.
The machine shall be a self-contained unit able to process three sizes
of letter trays (MM, EMM, 1/2 Size), have detachable sleeve carts with
a 125 sleeve minimum capacity, and have an operational throughput rate
of 15-18 trays per minute. Trays will be fed lengthwise from a
conveyor, and the machine will lift a sleeve from the top of a stack on
the sleeve cart, position it, and automatically insert the tray into
the sleeve. USPS preference is for a machine capable of sleeving at
least two tray sizes intermixed on the same conveyor. The machine shall
not occupy more than 80 square feet of space, and the internal conveyor
shall be eight feet in length. USPS anticipates a minimum initial
purchase of 100 units with possible national deployment of up to 400
units. If your organization presently manufactures, or is capable of
providing such machines, send the following information to the USPS
Automation Purchasing office: company brochure; catalog or description
of compatible equipment; field locations of equipment deployed and
operating; list of Postal contracts, if applicable, within the past
five years; and a recent annual report or brief financial summary.
