F -- LOG TERRACING OF NORTH 25 BURN, CHELAN RANGER DISTRICT, CHELAN COUNTY, WASHINGTON SOL RFP R6-17-98-80 POC Rosie McDonald, 509/664-2715 The Wenatchee National Forest is preparing to solicit for Log Terracing of approximately 1000 acres of burned Forest on the Chelan Ranger District, located in Chelan County, Washington under FAR 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling urgency authority. Most likely scenario is Government will require successful offeror to fell burned timber for terracing on 800 acres, and rearrange down timber for terracing on 200 acres. Safety is a major concern. Contractor will be required to be OHSA compliant. Government anticipates overnight mailing of solicitation documents with a one week response required. Packages should be available mid-September. Project location is North Fork 25 Mile Creek drainage on the south side of Lake Chelan. Service Contract Act wage rates will apply. Offers will be evaluated on past performance with emphasis on safety record for chainsaw operation, and price.
