synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written
solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation 626-98-37-jo is issued as
a RFQ. This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and
clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04:
FAR 52.212-1 Instructions to Offerors; FAR 52.212-4 Contract Terms and
Conditions -- Commercial Items; FAR 52.212-5, Contract Terms and
conditions Required to Implement Statutes or Executive
Orders-Commercial Items; VAAR 852.210-77 Brand Name or Equal. This
acquisition is unrestricted. SIC is 8243; small business size standard
is $5.0 million. This solicitation is for training for a two days
class of instruction for 16 individuals, and is to be provided at the
VA Medical Center, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This RFQ isfor three items
and is to include all travel and expenses, instructor fee, all
necessary equipment, course set up, and course manuals. Vendor also to
provide FORE Systems ASX-200BX ATM Switches, Newbridge Networks CS1000
ATM Switch, Newbridge Networks Route Server, Newbridge Networks Yellow
Ridge, RADCOM ATM protocol analyzer, SUN ATM workstations, Ethernet
laptop PC's. (1) -- Provide ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) Essentials
Training consisting of as a minimum -- Networking Overview on Existing
LANs, Ethernet, Token Ring, Existing MANs and WANs, ISDN, Statistical
Time Division Multiplexing, Frame Relay, IP Switching, ATM Background,
Deployment Strategies, Real-World Networking Case Studies, ATM Basics;
(2) -- Authorized CISCO Cirriculum Catalyst 5000 Series Training for
configuring and managing the Catalyst 1900, 2820, and 3200 LAN
Switches; (3) -- Cisco Catalyst 5000 kits for sixteen participants.
Companies wishing to respond to this solicitation should provide this
office with the following.A price quote on company letterhead for the
requested item showing solicitation number, unit price, extended price,
FOB, prompt payment terms and correct remittance address along with a
completed copy of FAR Clause 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and
Certifications-Commercial Items. Those companies not in possession of
the clause in full text may contact this office and a copy will be
faxed to you. In addition the bidder shall furnish as part of its bid
all descriptive literature and technical data sheets necessary for the
purchasing activity to determine whether the product offered meets the
salient characteristics/requirements of the solicitation. Failure to
provide this information will cause your bid to be rejected as
nonresponsive. Award of Best Value for the government contract will be
based on pricing, Course content and course execution. Offers are due
