Wolfe, Jr., 304/285-5883 The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health NIOSH)is looking for sources to provide a METABOLIC TREADMILL device for rats for use in our Inhalation Facility. This notice is being issued to solicit quotations from vendors who have devices equivalent to items manufactured by Columbus Instruments as follows: CLIN 001 -- Modular Treadmill Master Lane (1 each); CLIN 002 -- Modular Treadmill Slave Lane (3 each); CLIN 003 -- Modular Treadmill Metabolic Upgrade (4 each); and CLIN 004 -- Modulalr Treadmill Electric Shock Stimulus (4 each). GOVERNMENT SPECIFICATIONS: Treadmill must be built to allow four separate chambers for rats with treadmill in each chamber. These chambers shall be accessible for placement and removal of rats and easy to clean. Each chamber shall be airtight with at least 2 ports for monitoring and supplying respiratory gases. Speed shall be adjustable at least from 0-2 m/sec. Shall have adjustable lane inclination. Shall have some type of stimuli to make rats run. Electrical shock stimulus is preferred. EVALUATION FACTORS: The government will evaluate the ability of the offered items to meet or exceed the stated specifications.
