Barbato, Contract Specialist (410)-786-5145 The Health Care Financing
Administration (HCFA) is seeking to contract with a qualified health
research organization to evaluate health outcomes and cost
effectiveness of lifestyle modification programs for people with
coronary artery disease (CAD). This project, the Retrospective
Evaluation of Lifestyle Modification (RELM) Project, will be conducted
over 30 months. The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA)
expects the awardee to participate in the design of the RELM Project
and coordinate all aspects of the evaluation. The RELM Project is a
nonconcurrent cohort study of the cost-effectiveness of risk factor
modification programs for patients with demonstrated CAD. HCFA will
study patients with a prespecified level of coronary artery occlusion
who have participated in a formal lifestyle modification program
compared with nonparticipants having comparable demographic
characteristics and illness severity. HCFA would like to evaluate a
variety of lifestyle modification programs currently operating the
United States to determine if this service would be of benefit to the
Medicare population. Requests for the RFP must be in writing and must
be received by the above office within 15 days of this notice. No
telephone requests will be honored. The RFP will be available on a
first come first serve basis until supply is exhausted. Please mail
