The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source
contract with Pearson Engineering of the United Kingdom for a Minefield
Marking System. First delivery of one to two systems is expected in
FY99. This contract will include an option to procure up to five more
systems in FY00 with spares, technical support for test and evaluation
and operator training. The system requirements include: (a) The system
must be capable of clearly and automatically marking a lane through a
minefield with vegetation up to one meter high, fifty meters in length
by fifty meters in width, without reloading; (b) The marking pole must
be at least 38" in height for use in day and night with a 12 hour
visibility; (c) The system must work on a 24 volt power source and not
weigh more than 500 lbs; (d) The system must be capable of being fired
manually or on a timer and will require integration with robotics; and
(e) The system must have the ability to be attached on all Marine
Corps armored vehicles or bulldozers. NoRFP is available for
competitive bidding; however, interested parties are encouraged to
submit a statement of capability for satisfying this requirement that
demonstrates a bona fide ability to meet the Government's requirements
and illustrates it is advantageous to consider other sources. All
responses should reference this document and be received by 12 October
1998 to the Contact Person listed above. See Numbered Note 22!! Posted
