D -- MULTICASE, INC., CASETOX SOFTWARE PROGRAM SET SOL 98I337(Q) DUE 092898 POC Shirli R. Wall, Purchasing Agent, (404) 842-6745 THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION/AGENCY FOR TOXIC SUBSTANCE AND DRUG REGISTRY intends to solicit a quotation for existing commercial off-the-shelf software, On a Sole Source basis, from MULTICASE. Inc, 25825 Science Park Drive, Suite 100, Beachwood, OH 44122 to purchase The CASETOX Program Set, which includes Carcinogenicity modules, META program add-on, Mammal Metabolism, Spontaneous Reactions Module for META, TERIS/FDA, NTP+GENETOX to be used to predict various toxicological endpoints on the basis of structural fragments, thus providing a chemical explanation to the observed property. It assumes that the presence of molecular fragments previously found in a number of active compounds is indicative of potential activity and a reasonable basis to assess the activity of new molecules. The CASETOX program gives an estimate of the probability of toxic activity for practically any organic molecule entered by the user using either the KLN or SMILES codes, normal chemical structure input or computer graphics. It will also provide an explanation of how the conclusions were reached. There are more than 30 endpoints available for the CASETOX program comprising most of the toxicological endpoints of general interest, particularly the Carcinogenicity Modules. This is the only software available that provides interactive means of evaluating possible metabolic transformations of any given organic compound, irrespective of whether its metabolites are known or unknown. The CASETOX Program is unique in that it is, and must be, compatible with the Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) model in use at CDC/ATSDR. Simplified Acquisition Procedures will be utilized and an oral quotation will be solicited on or about 09/28/98. Other than Full and Open competition is authorized pursuant to 41 U.S.C.(C)(1). Qualified vendors have 14 days from date of this synopsis to submit capability statements delineating their ability to provide these products. Such qualifications will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a full and open competition basis. No solicitation document exists. Posted 09/14/98 (I-SN249229). (0257)
