SHIPBOARD QUALITY OF LIFE CONFERENCE A Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Shipboard Habitability Conference is scheduled for 02 through 04 Nov 98 in San Diego, CA. Naval message (COMNAVSEASYSCOM Washington DC 090324 Z Jun 98 applies) announced this conference which will be hosted by Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CNSP) at the Island Club located at the Naval Air Station, North Island. NAVSEA, in cooperation with the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC), invites manufacturers and vendors of habitability equipment and furniture to display their habitability equipment, furniture and/or items at a SWRMC facility for viewing by conference attendees from the Fleet and numerous Naval activities. Items can be left for display purposes after the conference. Habitability items contained in the three NAVSEA catalogs approved for shipboard use and other items projected or being developed for shipboard use would be of special interest to attendees. A conference agenda will be issued from NAVSEA no later than 18 Sep 98. Available space at the SWRMC facility for this Conference display is limited to approximately 2200 sq. ft. and will be assigned on a first come/first served basis. Equipment can be shipped to the following address: Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, 3755 Brinser Street, Suite 4, San Diego, CA 92136-5205, Attn: MMCM (SW) Marcinowski or MMCM (SW) Pascua. All equipment MUST be received no later than 16 Oct 98. SWRMC will only receive and position equipment and items at the area assigned. No elevator is available in this building. Items must fit through a 70-inch wide by 84-inch high doorway for access by a forklift or through a 35 inch by 84-inch high book at the top of a 36-inch wide staircase. Displays can be set up in building 3116 (2nd floor, 3 adjoining areas) from 0800 to 1530 daily from 19 to 23 Oct. and 26 to 29 Oct. Information related to services available for moving equipment and items, receipt, disposal of shipping materials, need for electrical receptacles, etc. can be obtained directly from SWRMC reps by phone at (619) 556-1744/1765, or by fax at (619) 556-1765. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) Code 9790 is assisting NAVSEA 03H1H (Mr. Ed Meere) with attendees at this conference and coordinating the display interface with SWRMC. Attendance will be limited to about 200 attendees with priority going to Fleet attendees, presenting activity personnel and personnel from Naval/Government activities directly supporting habitability initiatives and programs.
